I have an old, traditional wooden boat here in Cornwall on the far south west coast of the United Kingdom. I use my boat for inshore rod fishing, and for recreational potting for lobsters and crabs out to a couple of miles, strictly for my family's own consumption. For many years I hauled my lobster pots by hand but as the candles started to crowd the top of my birthday cakes hauling by hand became more and more difficult, well no not difficult, let's be honest, painful!! So I advertised on a couple of UK web sites for an electric pot hauler. I got a reply from a commercial fisherman in Scotland who was retiring and who said that he had been using an Electra-Dyne pot hauler for the last 5 years, day in day, out and it had never let him down. He thought it would be ideal for me as a hobby potter and anyway, he said, it's time his hauler retired along with him to a gentler life!! I bought the hauler unseen, and had it transported the 800 miles from the north of Scotland to me here in south west Cornwall. I mounted my Electra-Dyne hauler on my boat on a stainless steel frame with a roller arm extending over the gunwhale which a local engineering firm did for me. In this configuration it has served me faithfully for the last 3 years, never missing a beat, never faultering, never batting an eyelid at stuck pots, snagged ropes or whatever else the vagueries of the sea could throw at it. This is one impressive piece of kit, I love it to bits, and I would definately not be without it. Every winter I take my ED5000 off my boat and bring it back to my garage where, with a minimum of effort on my part involving nothing more than a gearbox oil change, a pressure hose off, a clean up and re-paint, it goes back on my boat in the spring looking and working like new. Thanks Electra-Dyne for an indestructable workhorse of a hauler. Regards Peter
